I currently have no birds left for sale and will not have any before the end of September 2008.
Please read this page
in its entirety BEFORE asking to be placed on the waiting list as a number
of frequently asked questions about my policy and procedures are addressed
here.
Due to an unprecedented number of folks in 2007 who
asked to be placed on my waiting list and then failed to respond when
contacted, I request that you only ask to be placed on the waiting list if
you are truly serious about purchasing birds. Last year I turned
away dozens of folks who really wanted birds because my waiting list was
full and nearly half of my waiting list didn't want birds when they came
available.
Both policy and
procedures are subject to change without notice.
-
PRICE:
2008 prices for birds are as follows:
yellow and variegated young males $80, green males $90, white males
(when available) $100, young hens (all colors) $50, breeding trios $160.
Birds with show points or from certain
lines may be priced higher. I do not offer bulk purchase discounts or
sell birds for ridiculously low prices, so please do not ask.

-
SALES: Sales
from my home are by appointment only.
-
PAYMENT: I
accept cash and Paypal. Email me at
kanarykrazy@chartermi.net
for my Paypal email address.
-
DEPOSITS: In
the past, I have required deposits, but this is a hassle for both buyers
and myself. What I use now is an honor-based system. Folks who ask to
be placed on the list and then change their minds or purchase birds
elsewhere displace folks who truly would like a bird from me. Please
DO NOT ask to be placed on the list unless you are committed to
purchasing from me and prepared to wait until the birds are ready.
-
LOCATION: I am
located in southeastern Michigan, but I travel to Sandusky, Ohio; the
greater Chicago area; and Livonia, Michigan; and other
places throughout the Midwest to attend American Singer competitions. I
would be happy to meet you at one of the shows if it would be more
convenient for you.
-
SHIPPING: I do
not ship birds- any where, by any method, regardless of the number of
birds you are purchasing. Please plan accordingly when asking to be
added to my waiting list. I do know of breeders who do ship - if you
wish to locate a breeder locally, try the
ASC Breeder Referral List
If you are unsuccessful in finding one in your area, email me at
kanarykrazy@chartermi.net and I will provide you with a
list of American Singer breeders I know personally who will ship. I do ask that you not
abuse their time - please, only contact them if you are serious.
-
GUARANTEE: All
birds offered for sale are healthy to the best of my knowledge. I cannot
guarantee birds after they leave my hands as it is indeed quite possible
to kill a bird within 24 hours. I do not accept returns as I cannot
control how birds are cared for or what they may be exposed to when they
are out of my hands.
No birds are sold
until their songs have been properly evaluated- so all birds sold as
male ARE male and have received some show training, which will make them
steadier pets in your home. In almost all cases my birds will sing
within a day of going to a new home, but some birds may take longer.
No birds are sold prior to the
completion of their first molt or, if they are older, during the
molt. No young birds are sold prior to the age of 6-8 months. I do
not sell young, unsexed birds for any reason.
Folks on the waiting list are
contacted in the order I received their request to be placed on the
list WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTION: people seeking breeding stock
(pairs, trios, etc.) are accommodated first. Among folks seeking
breeding stock, those who are involved in exhibiting American
Singers receive preference.
Birds become available on a
staggered basis. I breed for show- therefore my primary
consideration is retaining for myself the highest show
quality breeding stock possible. The show season is begun with a
large number of birds and as the show season progresses the show
team is pared down to the best six or so young males which will be
retained for my own breeding stock. Some birds will be available as
early as late September or early October while others will not be
for sale until December.
It is impossible to state with
certainty what colors will be produced this season so be aware that
while I will do my best to accommodate requests, I do not guarantee
particular colors.
Buyers are allowed to listen to
several different birds (when possible) so that they may select a
bird. There will be times when this is not possible, as when I have
only a single bird available.
My 2008 policy will be amended to
allow for more names on my waiting list due to the number of folks
who do not show when the birds are available. If you want to
GUARANTEE a bird, I will need payment in full. Otherwise, I will
contact people in the order they ask to be placed on the waiting
list.
If you have
are interested in a bird or have questions or are interested in being
placed on the 2008 Waiting List, please contact me at
kanarykrazy@chartermi.net
I need the following pieces of information
for placement on the list: your full name, a stable email address, and a
telephone number where you can be reached.
